Notre Dame football vs. Georgia Tech: Offensive Grades for 2021 Week 12

Running Backs

The running game didn’t suffer from a variety of players getting touches in this game. That tends to happen on Senior Day and in blowouts. It happens even more often when both of those things are happening at the same time. Eight different Notre Dame players recorded carries, with only Coan losing yardage due to sacks being counted as running plays.

Five of those who had carries were running backs. Why Tyler Buchner was the overall leader in rushing yards, Audric Estime lead Notre Dame running backs on the ground. Everyone had Audric Estime on their Bingo cards, right? No? Well, it goes to show just how much of this game was played with the outcome already decided.

It should also be noted that this may very well have been Kyren Williams’ last game at Notre Dame Stadium. Running backs don’t have a long shelf life, and Williams is a great all-around back. The NFL could very well be calling. He looked great, if it was his final game, scoring two touchdowns on the ground and catching four passes.

Behind Williams, Chris Tyree’s health continues to improve and Logan Diggs scored again. The future is bright at running back, so the Irish shouldn’t be concerned about their identity going forward.
