Get Kyren Williams to 1,000-plus

Incredibly, when the finalists for the Doak Walker award were announced this week, one name was left off, and it was a pretty big one. Everyone who knows college football knows that Kyren Williams is not only one of the best running backs in the game, but one of the more versatile players as well, so his snub was a bit shocking.

When it comes to Williams, that kind of stuff likely won’t bother him too much but making sure that he remains one of the best backs in the country will be paramount. This is a kid who can get the job done on the ground, and through the air, but for the Irish to win on Saturday, he has to get it going running the football.

To date, Williams is only 72 yards shy of rushing for over 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons, and the Irish have to make sure they get him there against the Cardinal. If he gets to 1,000 or more yards in this one, that means the Irish offense is rolling, which is likely to be the case against this Stanford defense.
