The Notre Dame football team takes on Stanford in Week 13, and here is our preview and prediction for the matchup inside Stanford Stadium.

A tough start to the 2021 college football season seems like a distant memory for the Notre Dame football team, which has been on a roll since the bye week. In fact,  the Irish are winners of six straight games, and in their last three, they have not allowed a touchdown against Navy, Virginia, and Georgia Tech.

Their play lately is a far cry from the beginning of 2021, when they struggled against lesser competition, and there was a real question as to whether or not to keep Jack Coan at quarterback. The offensive line was struggling in a big way, the run game was non-existent, and the big plays the defense was allowed was pretty alarming.

Now, heading into their regular-season finale against Stanford, the Irish are rolling, and they will be taking on a Stanford team whose season cannot end soon enough. The Cardinal got Tanner McKee back last week, but it did not matter, as he threw two interceptions in a 30-point home blowout loss to Cal in the Big Game.

This is a matchup that may have been different earlier in the year, but with the way these two programs are trending, it is going to be all-Irish in this one. You cannot beat the confidence that the Irish are playing with right now, and with how multi-faceted they are on offense, this Stanford defense is in for a long day.

This is a rivalry game, and teams get up for those kinds of contests, but for head coach David Shaw, does he have enough talent to compete with this Irish team? My guess would be no, and like the Georgia Tech game, this one could be over by halftime.

Notre Dame football is on a hot streak right now, and finishing out with an 11-1 record puts them right where they need to have a shot at making the College Football Playoff. The Irish are playing too good right now to get tripped up by a down Stanford team, and when all is said and done, the Legends Trophy will remain in South Bend.

Final Score: Notre Dame 38, Stanford 17
