The Notre Dame football team had the luxury of having Liam Eichenberg along the offensive line for years, and now Miami is reaping the benefits.

During his time with the Notre Dame football team, offensive tackle Liam Eichenberg established himself as one of the best in the country at his position. He played so well that he was a borderline first-round draft pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, eventually going to the Miami Dolphins in the second round.

For the Irish, Eichenberg was an anchor along the offensive line, keeping Ian Book clean, and winning a ton of games in the process. He took home numerous awards, and in his final season, led a unit that was a finalist for the Joe Moore Award, given to the best offensive line in the country.

So while Eichenberg entered the league after a storied career in South Bend, he had a tough time adjusting to the pro game.

As is the case for rookies, especially up front along the offensive line, there is going to be a learning curve, and that is no different for Eichenberg. Despite some struggles, Eichenberg has become the starting left tackle for the Dolphins and has started all but one game for the team throughout his rookie season.

Notre Dame football star shines against Carolina

During his last game, a huge win for the Dolphins against Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers, Eichenberg put together one of his best games of the year. The big fella allowed only one quarterback pressure in 34 pass-blocking snaps against the Panthers according to Pro Football Focus, while allowing zero sacks.

Those are the kind of games we are used to seeing him play, and to be able to come in and start as a rookie at left tackle, and shine against an impressive pass rush for Carolina, led by Brian Burns, was quite impressive. Eichenberg is going to be a left tackle in the NFL for a very long time, and if Sunday was an indication, the Dolphins got a great one in the second round.
