Notre Dame football: Predicting the final CFP ranking in 2021?

Predicting the Final Four

The conference championships started out exciting on Saturday, with a thriller between Oklahoma State and Baylor in the Big 12 title game. However, after that one finished up, it was a bunch of laughers, as Alabama throttled Georgia, Cincinnati crushed Houston, and Iowa was no match for Michigan.

Those results will likely lead to these four teams and rankings heading into Sunday’s final announcement of the College Football Playoff.

  1. Alabama (SEC)
  2. Michigan (Big Ten)
  3. Georgia (SEC)
  4. Cincinnati (AAC)

Alabama will unseat Georgia as the No. 1 team in this tournament, and will likely take on Cincinnati, a smaller-school who that is going to be in for a shock against the SEC power. The Georgia vs Michigan matchup should be a closer game, but in the end, I believe we are going to see a rematch of the SEC Championship Game for the national title.

This certainly is not the way any of us would have liked it to shake out, especially with Baylor beating Oklahoma State to start Saturday, but the truth is, there is no way the committee lets the Irish in over a team that beat them at home.
