Notre Dame football: Predicting the final CFP ranking in 2021?

What is next for Notre Dame?

Assuming there is not a miracle, and the Irish can sneak into the College Football Playoff, what is next for this Notre Dame football team? Well, there is a lot to be excited about, as we will get to see Marcus Freeman’s debut as a head coach, and see the program rally around a guy who everyone wanted to be promoted into the role.

Going into today’s rankings, I believe the Irish will be on the outside looking in, and their final bowl will be against Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl. That would be an outstanding matchup for the Irish, and a great test for Freeman in his first game as the head coach of this storied program.

All told, based on everything that went on this season, losing 14 players to the NFL after a solid 2020 campaign, and struggling early, the Irish will finish as the No. 5 team in the College Football Playoff ranking. That is a testament to these players and the coaching staff, and as we get ready to see the Irish finally get it done on a big stage on New Year’s Day, do not forget that the future is very bright in South Bend.
