Day 3 and Thoughts

Round 5, Pick No. 143: Jayson Ademilola, Detroit Lions

The sixth and final pick in this mock draft is Jayson Ademilola, who joins an organization that has long coveted Notre Dame football players. Ademilola is an interesting prospect, as he can play on the interior of the Lions’ offensive line, or even come off the edge, and their defense certainly needs some playmakers.

Detroit is actually a perfect landing spot for Ademilola, as he would join 2020 teammates Tommy Kraemer, Brock Wright, and Javon McKinley. Ademilola has become such a key for this Irish defense, and in Detroit, he would have the opportunity to fight for a starting job right away.

Final Thoughts

While these six players are more than deserving of hearing their names called during the 2022 NFL Draft, a few other prospects could get selected across the seven-round event as well. Kevin Austin Jr., Cain Madden, J.D. Bertrand, or even Jack Coan have played well enough this year to garner some draft-day buzz.

There is one more hurdle for this group, and that will come on New Year’s Day when they take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Fiesta Bowl. All six of these prospects have done so much for this program, and there is nothing quite like seeing a run of Irish players across the three-day draft event.
