Notre Dame Football: When is the Irish’s 2021 Early Signing Day?
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame football team has received commitments from some top recruits once again this year, but when can they sign on the dotted line?
It has been a crazy time since the Notre Dame football team beat the Stanford Cardinal to close out their regular season, as Brian Kelly left for LSU, and Marcus Freeman was promoted to head coach. For a while, things were a bit shaky in terms of recruitment, as commitments from players seemed on hold until Jack Swarbrick named Freeman the new head man in South Bend.
Since then, there have been a few de-commitments, including from wide receiver C.J. Williams, who is likely to sign on with USC and new head coach Lincoln Riley. Also, Devin Moore opened back up his recruitment, though the Irish are in the final two for his services alongside the University of Florida.
As it stands, the Irish have commitments from 22 players, including some of the best players in the entire country. Standouts like Jaylen Sneed and Josh Burnham are two of the best linebackers in America and are two of 12 players that have committed to the Irish that are ranked in the top-200 per 247Sports.com.
Notre Dame football has a top-5 recruiting class in 2022
All of the hard work put in by Brian Kelly before he left, and his top assistants is paying off, as the Irish have put together a top-5 recruiting class for the 2022 cycle. Of course, nobody is committed until they actually put pen to paper, so while many of these have already pledged their allegiance to the university, you never know until it is officially announced.
The Irish have put together an outstanding class this year, and the hope is that they can have a very uneventful early signing period starting on Wednesday. Head coach Marcus Freeman has this program pointed in the right direction, and after a strong end to the 2021 regular season, all eyes are fixed on dominating Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl.
