Notre Dame football signings who could make an immediate impact

Tobias Merriweather, Wide Receiver

Tobias Merriweather could prove to be the wide receiver that Notre Dame has needed to find in recent years. That is to say, he’s a consistent receiver with great size who should be able to stretch the field on the outside. At 6ft 4in, he’s an admittedly thin four-star receiver. However, some time in the weight room should help him fill out his frame in the coming months.

Merriweather chose Notre Dame over Oregon and several other programs.

Merriweather has great length and he has the athleticism to use that length to his advantage. That means creating a wide catch radius and becoming a reliable target with his sure-handedness. Merriweather is also a great route runner.

In fact, the only concern in the early part of his career is going to be getting jammed at the line because of his frame.

Notre Dame has room at wide receiver for someone to step in and thrive right away. He could come in and take some of the reps a player like Avery Davis has had, or find a way to carve out his own role in the offense.
