The Notre Dame football team will take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Fiesta Bowl, but here, we look at what should be on their Christmas List.

The Notre Dame football team will battle it out against the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Fiesta Bowl, a matchup of two teams that were just on the doorstep of the College Football Playoff. For the Irish, this is a chance to finally win a big-time bowl game on New Years Day, changing the narrative surrounding the program.

For that game, and going forward, we look at four things that they hope were under the Christmas tree this morning.

Wide receiver help in the portal

As the 2022 recruiting class began to take shape on Early Signing Day, it was clear that only one wide receiver was going to be joining the Irish this offseason. That player was Tobias Merriweather, an elite wideout prospect, and one who is going to be expected to fill the void left by both Amorion Walker and C.J. Williams signing elsewhere.

Overall, the wide receiver position for the Irish in 2022 could be thin, as guys like Braden Lenzy and Kevin Austin Jr. are eligible to leave for the NFL Draft. Some dynamic freshmen are returning in Lorenzo Styles Jr., Deion Colzie, and Jayden Thomas, but adding a player at the position via the transfer portal may be necessary.
