A top-5 recruiting class in 2023

The 2022 recruiting class is going to be a special group, as the collection of talent that Marcus Freeman and his staff were able to bring in finished out as No. 7 according to 247Sports.com. That is a pretty impressive class, and while being in the top-10 is solid for most colleges, this program needs to get back to the top-5.

Looking ahead, the Irish have a big start on the 2023 recruiting class, as they have already got an early commitment from a five-star defensive end in Keon Keeley. In addition, they got the No. 2 linebacker in the country in Drayk Bowen, and the best defensive lineman in the state of Ohio, Brenan Vernon, which is a huge get considering the Ohio State Buckeyes were hot on his heels.

This is just the beginning for what should be a much-improved recruiting process under Freeman and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. The Irish are building up to a point where they can compete with the likes of Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia when it comes to the national rankings, and this 2023 class is just the start.
