Notre Dame football vs. Oklahoma State Fiesta Bowl: 3 things to watch

The new RB1

A few weeks back, the program got word that Kyren Williams would not only declare early for the NFL Draft but also decided to sit out the Playstation Fiesta Bowl. That is certainly not a big surprise, as running backs have a very short shelflife, and he is wise to sit this one out and start preparing for the NFL Draft.

In his place, the Irish will turn to true freshman Logan Diggs, who looked so good in his first season on campus as the backup to Williams. This is a kid who proved that he can not only get the job done on the ground, but also through the air, and is not afraid to take the ball in short-yardage situations and pick up the tough yards.

Diggs is going to have a lot of help in this game, as we should see more of Audric Estime, another true freshman, and Chris Tyree. However, this is going to be a coming-out party for Diggs, who appears to be the future feature back for the Irish, and already has the respect, and trust of offensive coordinator Tommy Rees.
