Notre Dame football vs. Oklahoma State Fiesta Bowl: 3 key Irish players

Jack Coan, Quarterback

Going into the 2021 college football season, the Notre Dame football team needed someone to come in and fill the void left by Ian Book. A fourth-round pick of the New Orleans Saints in the 2021 NFL Draft, Book left school with more wins than any other quarterback in school history, leaving giant shoes to fill.

Luckily for the Irish, they were able to get Wisconsin signal-caller Jack Coan in the transfer portal, and he has been more than expected for this Notre Dame football program. Stepping in and assuming a role as a leader of this team right away, Coan struggled a bit early on the field but has since become one of the more consistent quarterbacks in the country.

Against Oklahoma State, Coan is not only going to be asked to make plays but also to provide leadership, as he has played in some huge games in his career. He has the perfect temperament to lead this team to a victory on Saturday, and his play will determine whether or not the Irish come away with a win against a tough Oklahoma State defense.
