Notre Dame football: Reasons the Irish will beat Oklahoma State

Multi-faceted offense

When it comes to this Irish offense, they can beat you in so many ways, and that should be the case on Saturday, even without Kyren Williams in the lineup. Despite Williams being gone, the Irish still have a bunch of running backs who can get the job done, led by two true freshmen in Logan Diggs and Audric Estime.

Towards the end of the regular season, once the offensive line issues got sorted out, quarterback Jack Coan started taking more shots downfield, and he has more than a few weapons at his disposal to do so against Oklahoma State. Lorenzo Styles Jr., Kevin Austin Jr., and Braden Lenzy are all deep threats, and all will keep the Cowboys’ defense honest in this one.

Then there is the great equalizer, Michael Mayer, widely considered one of the best tight ends in the country, and someone who must be accounted for any time he is on the field. It is going to be a great task for the Cowboys’ defense on Saturday, and if Coan is playing effective football, this offense is going to be very hard to stop.
