Notre Dame football: Reasons the Irish will beat Oklahoma State

Marcus Freeman

After the team’s win against Stanford, head coach Brian Kelly bolted for LSU, leaving the program without a head coach as they prepped for their bowl game. Instead of waiting around, the Irish did the right thing, promoting defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman to head coach, a favorite for players and alumni alike.

With Freeman at the helm, players have been raving about his practices, and if he preps the way he did as the defensive coordinator, the Irish are going to be in good hands. He is the kind of coach that players want to go to war with, and being his first-ever game as a head coach, this team is going to be playing with a lot of passion for him.

Sure, the Oklahoma State Cowboys are an outstanding team, and they certainly belong in the Fiesta Bowl, but this is an Irish team that is on a mission. Notre Dame will be playing with some added intensity now that Freeman is the head coach, and that should lead to them coming away with the win on Saturday.
