The Notre Dame basketball team is looking for another crucial win tonight, as they battle it out against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Notre Dame basketball team is currently on a hot streak, winning their last three games, including a tough road victory against Pitt their last time out. In that game, Prentiss Hubb led the Irish on an incredible comeback, capping the game with a fadeaway jumper to lift the Irish to a 68-67 victory.

Now, they take their winning streak back home, playing host to the North Carolina Tar Heels inside Purcell Pavilion. The Tar Heels have gotten out to a 10-3 start to the 2021-22 campaign and destroyed Boston College their last time out.

They currently are 2-0 in conference play.

North Carolina does a nice job spreading the wealth, as they currently have five players averaging double-figures in scoring per game this season. Armando Bacot, who is second in scoring, also leads the team with nearly ten rebounds per game.

This is going to be a tough game for the Irish, as they have looked a lot better as of late, and are getting good play up and down the lineup. North Carolina is undefeated on the road this season, but the Irish are undefeated at home, so something has to give in this matchup of ACC foes.

North Carolina has some solid depth up and down their roster, and that could give them the advantage here. The Irish usually only go seven-deep in their games, and are a very guard-heavy lineup, so the key will be Nate Laszewski and Paul Atkinson holding their own in the paint, and staying out of foul trouble.

At home, I like the Irish to shock the Tar Heels, much like they did against Kentucky back on December 11, 2021, when star true freshman Blake Wesley hit the game-winning shot. Getting consistent play from Hubb will be crucial in this matchup, and in the end, the Irish come away with a three-point victory at home.
