Notre Dame Football: 5 wide receivers to target in the transfer portal
By Sean Smith
The Notre Dame football team is lacking depth at the wide receiver position heading into 2022, and here are five potential targets in the transfer portal.
Wide Receiver is a position for the Notre Dame football team that was a strength but is quickly becoming a weakness. Notre Dame went from having the likes of Michael Floyd, Will Fuller, and Chase Claypool, to quickly realizing the position is getting weaker and thinner heading into the 2022 Season.
The 2022 recruiting class was supposed to revamp the position group, as the Irish were front-runners to bring in Tobias Merriweather, Amorion Walker, and C.J. Williams. Unfortunately, the Irish were able to get only one to sign their National Letter of Intent, though Merriweather is going to be a special player in South Bend.
The Irish, as of now will have seven scholarship receivers on the roster in 2022, including two coming off of season-ending injuries (Avery Davis and Joe Wilkins Jr.). The Irish do have promising Wide Receivers in Lorenzo Styles, Deon Colzie, and 2022 Signee Merriweather.
However, the receiver position has become a numbers game and the Irish will look to add one more to the 2022 Class. As well as land a transfer or two at the position. Below I will discuss five WRs in the Transfer Portal the Irish should target.
