Notre Dame Football: 4 program-changing recruits to target in 2023

Carnell Tate, WR: IMG Academy (FL)

Playing wide receiver for powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, Carnell Tate is one of the best in his class, if not the absolute best. At 6’2” 185 pounds, Tate would step into South Bend being tailor-made to play massive minutes as a freshman. While recent history might say a first-year student would have to wait his turn, Carnell would force playing time.

While signs are currently pointing to Ohio State being in the lead, I’m not sure about that. Ohio State has loads of talent in their wide-receiver group. That said, Carnell would immediately be the guy in South Bend, and that’s hard to ignore.

Before heading to IMG Academy, Tate grew up in Chicago, just hours away from Notre Dame

He’s a great athlete with good speed and has an outstanding ability to track and catch the ball. His highlights are awe-inspiring. With Del Alexander on the way out and a position coach yet to be named, that could play a significant role in Tate’s process. Bring in a stud recruiter and top-of-the-line guy, and who knows what could happen. Again, rumors are running rampant, but nothing is official at this time.

It’ll still take a few breaks in favor of the Irish to land one of the best receivers in the country. If they can pull it off, though, the team is instantly better on the offensive side of the ball.
