The Notre Dame football team has some elite players returning on defense in 2022, making it one of the elite groups in the entire country.

The Notre Dame football team went on a special run during their College Football Playoff push, not allowing a single touchdown across three games. Led by an incredible defensive line, veteran linebackers, and a promising defensive backfield, Marcus Freeman’s group on that side of the ball became one of the best in the country.

Now, the Irish will be looking to put another elite product on the field, and in recent weeks, they have been getting some great news in terms of players who could have left for the 2022 NFL Draft. The Ademilola twins are back, as are Isaiah Foskey and Bo Bauer, while the secondary got strong with Brandon Joseph coming in via the transfer portal at safety.

Now, with an elite 2022 recruiting class coming in, the Irish are deeper than they have been in a long time, and it is very hard to point out holes on this defense. Notre Dame football is going to be one of the contenders for the College Football Playoff next season, and this defense has the talent to be something special.

All told, this is a defense that could be one of the all-time great units the Irish have ever put on the field.
