The Notre Dame football team should be deep on both sides of the ball in 2022, and here is a way to keep track of all the incoming and outgoing players.

The offseason in college football is a whirlwind, and for the Notre Dame football team, they are no different. With a new head coach in 2022 and plenty of expectations, the hope is that another double-digit win season is on the horizon, and the Irish can get back to playing in the College Football Playoff.

Here you will find a Notre Dame football tracker of players leaving, staying, and going to the NFL Draft.

With so many new faces and some faces leaving, we thought it best to lay it all out in one spot.

Notre Dame football players in the transfer portal

  • Lawrence Keys III, WR – Tulane
  • Brendon Clark, QB- Old Dominion
  • Litchfield Ajavon- Undecided
  • Shayne Simon, LB- Pitt
  • Khari Gee, S- Georgia Tech
  • Jay Bramblett, P- LSU
  • Caleb Offord, CB- Undecided
  • Quinn Carroll, OT- Minnesota

As you can see, several Notre Dame football players entered the transfer portal, including starting punter Jay Bramblett. The three-year starter will join his former head coach, Brian Kelly, down in LSU, clearing the way for either Jon Sot or Bryce McFerson to land the job in 2022.

New Irish coming in via the transfer portal

  • Jon Sot, P- From Harvard (Grad Transfer)
  • Brandon Joseph, S- From Northwestern
  • Blake Grupe, K- From Arkansas State

Landing Joseph was huge for this Notre Dame football team, as they try to replace an elite talent in Kyle Hamilton. Joseph was an All-American at Northwestern, and fills that void immediately, giving the Irish incredible talent, as well as leadership in what will be a young defensive backfield.

Notre Dame football players declaring for the NFL Draft

  • Kyle Hamilton, S
  • Kyren Williams, RB
  • Kevin Austin Jr., WR
  • Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, DL

We have already discussed at length the talent the Irish are losing this offseason, including offensive guard Cain Madden, who was out of eligibility. These four players could have returned to South Bend for another go-around, but decided to see where they may land in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Hamilton is going to be a top-5 pick, and Williams could be the first or second running back taken this April. However, Tagovailoa-Amosa and Austin Jr. are wild cards in this year’s draft, as they could end up falling to Day 3 when all is said and done.

Notre Dame football players returning in 2022

  • Isaiah Foskey, DE
  • Justin Ademilola, DL
  • Jayson Ademilola, DL
  • Braden Lenzy, WR
  • Avery Davis, WR
  • Bo Bauer, LB
  • Houston Griffith, S
  • Jarrett Patterson, C
  • JD Bertrand, LB
  • George Takacs, TE

The amount of talent that has decided to return for another season in South Bend is outstanding, as the Irish could have a record number of draft picks in 2023. Many of these guys were expected to be drafted, including the likes of Foskey and Patterson, both considered Day 2 picks, even as high as the second round.

With these players returning, as well as those left on the roster, and a deep 2022 recruiting class, you have to like the way this roster shapes up next season. They are going to be deep on both sides of the ball, return nearly their entire starting offensive line, and based on what we saw of the young players in 2021, they should be quite explosive.
