Notre Dame Football: Three 2022 NFL Draft landing spots for Kyren Williams

No. 2: Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons were similar to the Houston Texans heading into the 2021 season. However, with veteran Mike Davis and converted wide receiver/kick-off returner Cordarrelle Patterson, they’re in serious need of youth in the backfield.

Atlanta’s rushing offense was nearly as bad as Houstons in 2021. They were the 2nd worst team in total yards at 1,451 and yards per game at 85.4. Though the entire offense could use some work, their passing game wasn’t nearly as bad as their rushing attack. Whether it’s a back to come in and spell Mike Davis while he learns for a year or not, the team is in a dire situation.

Matt Ryan is an established quarterback, and though he may be on the decline, he can still be a solid contributor in the NFL. His completion percentage of 67 was higher in 2021 than his career average of 65.5. While yards and touchdowns declined somewhat significantly, Ryan can still make the necessary plays with his arm, for now.

Being able to protect what’s left of their massive investment from May of 2018 should be a top priority. Even better is the ability to do the same for a young quarterback should they decide to somehow move on from Matt.

Kyren Williams brings the best of both worlds and could be a steal for Atlanta in the 2nd or 3rd round.
