Jarrick Bernard-Converse

  • Cornerback, Oklahoma State

Notre Dame fans should be familiar with Jarrick Bernard-Converse, as he was one of the cornerbacks who came under attack from the Jack Coan Air Raid in the Fiesta Bowl. In the first half, he struggled along with the rest of the defense. Notre Dame fans know what happened in the second half.

Bernard-Converse was a key part of that dominant Cowboys defense, who was able to grow into their roles with tons of prior experience. In particular, Bernard-Converse has played in all four of his years in college, a total of 49 games. That’s incredibly valuable experience, which doesn’t come around often. His experience helps him diagnose plays quickly, while his extensive time in college has given him time to develop physically. Compared to a lot of players, he’s a grown man against players still growing into their bodies.

In his career, Jarrick Bernard-Converse has 195 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 24 pass breakups.

Defensive back is also a position where the Irish are incredibly light. Depth at this spot has bitten Notre Dame in the past, and it could easily bite them again in 2022. Teams like Ohio State are stacked with talent, and USC is going to be a completely new beast under Lincoln Riley. Brandon Joseph was a huge player to add, but more help is needed. Bernard-Converse could be that help.

There is one problem, the 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictor has him going to play for old friend Brian Kelly at LSU, which would make sense for the Louisiana native.
