Notre Dame basketball: Irish doing a great job finishing games
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame basketball team is one of the hottest in the country right now, and they are finding ways to pull away from teams late.
During their victory over the NC State Wolfpack on Wednesday, the Notre Dame basketball team struggled to get it going in the first half. Up and down the lineup, players were struggling to score, which was a bit surprising considering they were coming off a huge victory against Louisville, one that saw them win by double-digits.
Still, as has been the case lately for the Irish, they were able to come out of the half and dominate, this time, erasing a 5-0 run by NC State to start the second half, to go on a 14-0 run of their own. Nate Laszewski scored eight straight to put the Irish in front for good, and they ended up cruising to an eight-point victory.
In their previous game against Louisville, the Irish were actually down nine at the half, before outscoring the Cardinals 44-25 in the second. That was a stark contrast from their last loss of the season, when Virginia Tech blew their doors off in the second half, convincingly beating the Irish.
To keep the good times rolling, Notre Dame basketball is going to have to continue to close teams out in the second half, especially with some tough opponents on the horizon.
Notre Dame basketball has won nine of their last ten
With their win on Wednesday, Notre Dame basketball has won nine of their last ten games and is looking more and more like a contender in the ACC. Though they are not getting much national attention, they need to just put their heads down and keep winning, as it will all work itself out in the end.
When it comes to the tournament, this is the kind of team that can go on a run, as it has a ton of veterans and a bonafide star in Blake Wesley.
Some huge games are coming up for this Notre Dame basketball team, including the next two, as they play host to Virginia and No. 9 Duke. If they can win both or even one of those two, it significantly helps their NCAA Tournament hopes, and as we have seen in 2021-22, the Irish are undefeated inside Purcell Pavilion.
