The Notre Dame football team is building a special 2023 recruiting class, and cornerback Christian Gray is a must-have for the Irish defense.

In 2022, the Notre Dame football team should be solid at cornerback, especially if Cam Hart returns, and Clarence Lewis continues to develop. The Irish also have two 2021 recruits in Philip Riley and Ryan Barnes who should see an increase in playing time, while there is still no word as to whether or not Tariq Bracy plans to return for a fifth season.

All told, the depth within this position group is starting to grow, and more help is on the way. The 2022 recruiting class includes some elite players at cornerback in Jaden Mickey, Jayden Bellamy, and of course, Benjamin Morrison, who is an early enrollee at the school.

Notre Dame football needs to land Christian Gray

However, more talent is needed, and Christian Gray from Missouri is a four-star prospect who is a must-have for Marcus Freeman and his staff. The Irish have already offered Gray, and from the looks of it, they have the inside track to land him.

Over the past few days, Gray has been getting more offers, including Indiana and the University of Miami. He is a player who is going to have his pick of where he wants to go to school, but right now, he is trending Irish, and that would be a huge shot in the arm for this Notre Dame football program.

The 2023 recruiting class already has a four-star cornerback in Justyn Rhett, and it is considered the No. 2 class in the country early on. It is clear that Marcus Freeman and his staff are certainly trending in the right direction in terms of their recruiting, and Gray would be another stellar defensive back to add to the mix, especially with Cam Hart gone after 2021.
