Dual-threat quarterbacks

One other thing to look at when comparing these two players is the fact that both have incredible playmaking ability from the quarterback spot. During his time as the starter in South Bend, Book was known for making big plays with his arm, and his legs, something Buchner proved he could do last season.

Also, both players play with incredible toughness, and it was impressive to see Buchner come in during tough situations last season and make plays. Remember, he did not play his senior year of high school due to COVID shutting down sports in the state of California, so going up against FBS defenses after his last starts were as a junior in high school was almost shocking.

Notre Dame is moving on from star running back Kyren Williams this upcoming season, as the two-time 1,000-yard back is leaving early for the NFL. The Irish do have talented running backs returning, but Buchner is going to have to eat up some yards with his legs as well, and in 2018, Book finished second in rushing behind Dexter Williams, something Buchner may be tasked to do as well.
