Notre Dame football is bringing in some excellent linebackers in the 2022 recruiting class, and we sat down with one of them recently.

Notre Dame football has a strong freshman class that is poised to make an impact early in 2022. We sat down with Nolan Ziegler. A talented freshman linebacker who is the definition of a Notre Dame Fit. Below we discuss Spring Football, Coaching Changes, and more.

Notre Dame football interview with Nolan Ziegler

Sean Smith (SlaptheSign): You enrolled early at Notre Dame, How has it been getting adjusted there?

(ZIEGLER) “It’s been good I think it has gone pretty smoothly I feel like my school set me up pretty well for it.”

Smith: What are your goals for the spring practice/game?

(ZIEGLER) “I want to get in, make plays, and do what the team needs.”

Smith: Growing up as a Notre Dame fan, has it been everything you dreamed of?

(ZIEGLER) “Yeah, I’d say so, what I dreamed of was playing here. I haven’t been able to play yet so it’s been pretty much school and lifting. You don’t really think of that as a kid much you know? There’s more of a reality to it. So it’s been what I expected. I mean there’s some tough classes and hard workouts but I think I’ve been ready for it.”

Smith: How was the adjustment of changing coaches (Coach Kelly to Coach Freeman)? Did that have an impact on your decision?

(ZIEGLER) “I was locked in because if I wasn’t no one else had to be. I was trying to keep guys and was texting guys just to stay calm. Especially when we had a few weeks there without a coach. I think if Coach Freeman wasn’t here we would’ve had guys leave. I really enjoy Coach Freeman and all the guys do. We’re just bringing in great coaches.”

Smith: Are there any linebackers or players that you look up to? Or that you embody your game after?

(ZIEGLER) I really think Bo Bauer, Jack Kiser, and Marist (Liufau). For the NFL I like the play of Harrison Smith and Drue Tranquil. Those types of guys.

We would like to thank Nolan for sitting down to talk with us about spring ball, the coaching changes, and his experience so far at Notre Dame. Ziegler has been waiting his whole life to play Notre Dame Football. There is a reason he was the first defensive commit in the 2022 Class. Irish fans watch out, he is going to make an impact on Day 1.
