Notre Dame football: Jack Coan may have solidified his draft status

Coan should be a draft pick

When it comes to the NFL, there is a lot to like about Coan, who threw for over 3,000 yards for the Irish this past season. He stepped on campus in South Bend and became a leader right away, possessing the kind of personality that is going to win over a lot of coaches during the NFL interview process.

He also has incredible physical gifts, blessed with solid accuracy, and the size to stand in the pocket and deliver the football down the field. He may not be a Day 2 pick, but in rounds 4 through 7, some team is going to be getting a player that could end up being a No. 2 quarterback in this league in short order.

We saw Ian Book go in the fourth round last year, which was a surprise, so do not be surprised if a team likes Coan so much that they draft him early on Day 3.

Overall, there is no way that Coan’s football career ended at the East-West Shrine Bowl, as he showed he can rise above the competition, and be one of the top players in a game of All-Stars. He also did it in front of a ton of coaches and scouts from the NFL, so if his play with the Irish did not earn him a draft selection, Thursday night certainly did.
