No. 9: Kyle Hamilton’s stop against Purdue

The Notre Dame football team took on Purdue in the third game of the 2021 college football season, and it was another game that was close in the second half. In fact, the Boilermakers were only down four points with less than five minutes left in the third quarter, but there was a lot of football left to play.

After a Jonathan Doerer field goal gave the Irish a seven-point lead in the fourth quarter, the Boilermakers had a few chances to pull close, but Kyle Hamilton put a stop to any chance of that happening. Notre Dame got a stop after the field goal, and the teams would actually trade punts for three consecutive series before Kyren Williams burst free for a 51-yard touchdown run.

With the Irish up two scores, Purdue began to mount their comebacker, going on an 11-play drive deep into Notre Dame territory. Unfortunately for Purdue, Kyle Hamilton played for the Irish, and his interception in the end zone showed why he will be a top-3 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, a one-handed grab that sealed the Irish victory.
