No. 5: Chris Tyree’s KO return against Wisconsin

The Wisconsin game was a battle that Jack Coan circled on the calendar, as he would be going up against his former college in front of a national audience. This matchup would be played inside Soldier Field, and after Coan was injured, the Irish had to turn to Drew Pyne to lead them the rest of the way.

In a game that was highlighted by two pick-sixes in the fourth quarter to turn this one into a blowout, the game was still in doubt when Chris Tyree set the building into a frenzy. With the Irish down 13-10 to the Badgers in the fourth quarter, Tyree hauled in a kickoff at the four-yard line, blazing 96 yards for a touchdown and turn this game on its head.

The play was the turning point for the Irish, who would score 31 unanswered points to close out the contest. Tyree is an incredible playmaker, and an outstanding return man, but in 2022, he is going to be expected to shoulder more of the load in the run game, something he is certainly capable of doing.
