Notre Dame football: Who will be the TE2 in 2022?

Mitchell Evans and Cane Berrong

Mitchell Evans and Cane Berrong played as true freshmen this past season and did a nice job in the rotation at tight end. Evans was more of a blocking tight end, and remember, he was a quarterback in high school, so for him to come in and contribute the way he did was quite impressive.

Berrong was also working his way into the rotation when he tore his ACL during the Virginia Tech game, ending his true freshman season. He was a top-10 player at his position group coming out of high school, and if he is fully healthy, I expect him to challenge Bauman for the TE2 role on this offense.

Both Evans and Berrong are valuable players for this Notre Dame football team whether they are the No. 2 tight end or not. They are certainly going to be expected to contribute in this offense, especially in games that are blowouts, and they both are players who I believe can be impact players in South Bend during their careers.
