Notre Dame football 2022 recruiting class by the numbers: 21

21 True Freshmen in the 2022 recruiting class

The 2022 recruiting class for Notre Dame football brought in 21 new faces, some of which will be expected to come in and make an impact right away. Last year, we saw multiple true freshmen come in and claim a role on this roster from Day 1, including Blake Fisher, who earned the starting left tackle job during the spring and summer months.

Looking at this collection of talent, you have to think that a player like Jaylen Sneed is going to get every chance to start right away, as will Tyson Ford up front along the defensive line. The Irish are going to also need Tobias Merriweather to come in and at least provide the kind of spark Lorenzo Styles Jr. did as a true freshman last year.

Overall, the Irish took a step in the right direction in terms of the amount of talent they brought in, as they did not have a top-10 class last year. Marcus Freeman is an elite recruiter, as is Tommy Rees, so while this class could turn out to be special, the 2023 class is already building to be one of the best in years.
