Notre Dame football: Top returning players on offense in 2022

Jarrett Patterson, Center

There were a handful of players from the 2021 team that could have declared early for the 2022 NFL Draft, and many of them would have been drafted. However, many players decided to come back for another go-around in South Bend, looking for the chance to win a title with Freeman at the helm.

One of those players was Jarrett Patterson, a draft prospect who was considered the second-best center in the entire class. Patterson was likely slated to be a Day 2 pick this April, but instead, he returns to South Bend, where he will resume his role as the center of this offensive line.

Patterson has never allowed a sack during his time as the starting center for the Irish, and the hope is that this trend continues in 2022. The Irish are making another change at quarterback, the third starter for Patterson in three seasons, so having his stability will prove crucial this season for whoever is under center.
