Notre Dame football: Top returning players on offense in 2022

Lorenzo Styles Jr.

During the 2021 college football season, Kevin Austin Jr. proved to be the No. 1 weapon in the passing game in terms of the wide receiver spot. Now, Austin will try to find a way to latch on at the NFL level, and after missing on a few key 2022 recruits at the position, Notre Dame football has minimal depth at the position group.

Good thing for the program that Lorenzo Styles Jr.stepped up in a big way last season, and will be expected to move into a starting role as a true sophomore. Avery Davis and Braden Lenzy are both back, forgoing the NFL for one more season in South Bend, but Styles Jr. is the key here.

Incoming wide receiver Tobias Merriweather should give this offense a nice boost as well, as he has the size to be a real threat in the red zone. Overall, there may not be a ton of bodies in this position group, but the talent is outstanding, and Styles could be the breakout star of the 2022 offense for the Irish.
