Notre Dame football: Top returning players on defense in 2022

Isaiah Foskey, Vyper

After the 2021 college football season, Isaiah Foskey was seen as a player who could hear his name called in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Foskey, who put together a breakout season in 2021, decided to come back for another year with the Irish, and his coming back was the top news this offseason.

The truth is, Foskey is widely regarded as the best edge rusher coming back next season, and he will be expected to build on a double-digit sack season last year. Foskey has an incredible motor and playing the coveted Vyper spot on this Irish defense, he will be given every opportunity to put back-to-back stellar seasons together.

With another solid season, Foskey can set a few school records, as well as try and lead this team to a national title. His role is a big one, and if the Irish are to dominate on the defensive side of the ball, Foskey could end up being a first-round draft pick when all is said and done.
