Notre Dame football: 2022 NFL Scouting Combine primer

Kyren Williams

Over the past two seasons, Kyren Williams established himself as one of the premier running backs in college football, rushing for back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. More than just a runner, Williams is also a strong option out of the backfield in the passing game, as well as a capable blocker.

All of that is going to go a long way into making him one of the first running backs selected in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Irish star is slated to be a Day 2 pick right now, with most mock drafts having him go in Round 3, making this a very important week for him in Indianapolis.

If Williams can put on a good show during the on-field workouts, especially with the 40-yard dash, he could see his draft stock creep up into the Round 2 range. That would be huge for him in terms of his contract, and if he lands with the right team, I could see him earning a starting running back job as a rookie in 2022 based on his strength and speed.
