Notre Dame football: 2022 NFL Scouting Combine primer

Kevin Austin Jr.

Now we get to the three players fighting for their NFL lives, as Kevin Austin Jr. took on the role of WR1 for this Notre Dame football team last season. After a career marred by injury, Austin was able to put together a complete season, leading the team in receiving yards, while finishing second to Michael Mayer in receptions.

Throughout the season, Austin Jr. not only showed big-play ability but the ability to step up in the biggest moments, helping the Irish to an 11-1 regular season. He is a tremendous athlete, and the hope is that the scouts will be able to see through some of his issues in South Bend and find a wideout they can mold down the road.

Austin Jr. proved last year that if he can stay on the field, he can do some legitimate damage, and I believe his athletic ability will shine through this week. He has tremendous hands, a solid build, and excellent physical traits, making him someone who could end up hearing his name called on Day 3.
