Notre Dame football: 3 reasons Jack Coan will be selected in the 2022 NFL Draft
By Brad Weiss
The Notre Dame football team will be replacing their starting quarterback once more in 2022, and their former starter should impress at the Combine.
After losing Ian Book to the NFL, the Notre Dame football team needed someone to come in and lead a veteran-laded team for the 2021 college football season. Turning the program over to a true freshman in Tyler Buchner was not in the cards, nor was handing the reins to Drew Pyne, who served as Book’s backup the previous season.
Instead, it was a graduate transfer from Wisconsin that came in and took over as the quarterback of the Irish, and he put together a fantastic season. It started a bit bumpy for Coan after he set a school record for passing yards in a player’s first start in Week 1 against Florida State, though a lot of that can be contributed to the Irish’s struggles along the offensive line.
However, Coan would flourish in his only season with the Irish, throwing for over 3,100 yards and 25 touchdowns, while tossing only seven interceptions. He was an absolute leader for this program in a season where they needed someone to step up, finishing out an impressive collegiate career.
Here, we look at why he will be a draft pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
