The Notre Dame football team got great play from Jack Coan last season, and one expert feels he is a sleeper pick for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Day 1 of the NFL Combine’s on-field workouts started on Thursday, as the quarterbacks, tight ends, and wide receivers practiced inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Within that group was Notre Dame football’s starting quarterback from a year ago, Jack Coan, a graduate transfer from Wisconsin.

Though he only played one season in South Bend, Coan certainly made his mark, leading the team to an 11-1 regular-season record. After some hiccups early in the season, Coan hit his stride late, helping the team to a seven-game win streak to close out the year.

Recently, we spoke about why Jack Coan should be a draft pick this April, despite the fact that many see him as a Day 3 selection at best. He has been a winner his entire career, has an outstanding football IQ, and is a leader, making him a perfect guy to bring into any NFL system.

Apparently, we are not the only ones who feel this way.

Lance Zierlein from NFL.com views Coan as a possible NFL Draft sleeper, and rightfully so. He laid out his reasons in a recent tweet.

Notre Dame football sent five players to the Combine

All told, the Irish sent five players to Indianapolis for the Combine, including Coan, Kevin Austin Jr., Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, Kyle Hamilton, and Kyren Williams. Of the group, only Hamilton and Williams are considered sure-fire draft picks this year, so Coan and company have a lot of work left to do to impress the coaches and scouts at the event.

We know Coan was going to impress during the interview process, as he has that certain way about him that makes other players follow him into battle. If he can put on a strong throwing display during the Combine and his Pro Day, he could land with an NFL team on Day 3, as this is not a particularly deep class of signal-callers coming out this year.
