The Notre Dame basketball team will end their regular season at home today, playing host to the Pittsburgh Panthers inside Purcell Pavilion.

It has come time for this Notre Dame basketball team to hit the floor for their final home game, as they welcome in ACC foe, Pitt to Purcell Pavilion. It has been a special regular season for the Irish, one that has seen them vault to the top of the ACC, while the Panthers, on the other hand, are going in the opposite direction.

In fact, the Panthers sit in third-to-last place in the ACC entering the final game of the season and are coming off a 30-point loss on the road to Duke their last time out. Pitt has struggled to play consistent basketball all season long, and that has led to an 11-19 record overall, and only six wins within the conference.

For the Irish, a win here would go a long way in them getting their confidence back heading into the ACC Tournament and an eventual NCAA Tournament bid.

The Irish are coming off a road loss to Florida State their last time out, as they were done in by the three-point shot, something they have used to their advantage all season long. For Notre Dame basketball, this has a chance to be an easy win before heading to tournament play, but as we have seen all season in the ACC, you have to take it one game at a time.

Pitt is led by forward John Hughley, who leads the team in both scoring and rebounding. They have a solid backcourt in Jamarius Burton and Femi Odukale. Notre Dame counters with a balanced squad that has been getting great play from Paul Atkinson Jr. as of late, as he has nearly 50 rebounds across his last three games.

Four games ago they shocked UNC, and they would like nothing more than to do the same to the Irish today. However, I believe Notre Dame is the superior team, and will not be taking them lightly being their final home game of the regular season.
