The Notre Dame basketball team took care of business against Pitt on Saturday, and with that, clinched the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament.

The Notre Dame basketball team went into their regular-season finale against Pitt as heavy favorites, and from the start, it was clear the Irish were the better team. Notre Dame basketball has had an outstanding season this year, becoming one of the best teams in the conference, and have certainly done enough for at least an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.

Against Pitt, it was another incredible team effort, as four of the five starters went for double-figures in scoring, and Blake Wesley came off the bench to add 11 of his own. Wesley moved to the bench against Pitt due to the fact it was Senior Day, but he still played 26 minutes.

For the Irish, they close out the regular season with their best seed in ten years, as they now hold the No. 2 seed in the ACC going into the ACC Tournament. They will not play again until the quarterfinal, where they will take on either Virginia Tech, Clemson, or NC State.

Notre Dame basketball had a legitimate shot at a run

This Notre Dame basketball team is built perfectly for tournament play, as they have a great blend of veterans to go along with a young star in Wesley. They are also a dangerous team from the outside, and as we see every year in the NCAA Tournament, if you can fill it up from beyond the three-point line, you likely will be in good shape.

For now, the Irish turn their focus on the ACC Tournament, and the No. 1 seed, Duke, was just beaten at home by the UNC Tar Heels in Coach K’s final home game of his illustrious career.

The first round of the ACC Tournament is going to kick off on Tuesday and will run until the championship game on Saturday, March 12. The Irish have the talent to make some noise this week, improving their seed entering March Madness.
