Notre Dame football: Offensive two-deep projection entering Spring Practice

Wide Receiver

  • X- Braden Lenzy, Joe Wilkins Jr.
  • Z- Lorenzo Styles Jr., Tobias Merriweather
  • Slot- Avery Davis, Deion Colzie

Last season, Kevin Austin Jr. stepped up as the WR1 for this Notre Dame football team, leading the Irish in receiving yards. This offseason, he made the jump to the NFL, but two veteran players decided to return to South Bend, and both Avery Davis and Braden Lenzy are expected to have breakout seasons in 2022.

Last year, we also got to see the emergence of Lorenzo Styles Jr., who dominated Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl and finished on a high note. Styles is the kind of player you can build a position group around, and in 2022, he is going to get every opportunity to be the WR1 for this program.

Behind the three starters are some talented players as well, with Joe Wilkins returning, and Deion Colzie expected to take a big step forward in his second season on campus. The big get for the 2022 recruiting class at the position was Tobias Merriweather, who will not be with the team until the summer, as he closes out his high school career.
