The Notre Dame basketball team will take on No. 6 Alabama as an 11-seed in the West Region, hoping to keep their March Madness dreams alive.

The Notre Dame basketball team was able to make it to the Field of 64 thanks to a thrilling victory over Rutgers on Wednesday night. In that game, the Irish had to work double overtime to come away with a two-point victory, and a shot at playing No. 6 Alabama in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

With the victory, the Irish headed to San Diego to kick off the West Region, and they will be taking on an Alabama team that should be well-rested. The Crimson Tide have lost three straight games heading into this matchup, so if there was any time for the Irish to get them, it is now.

There is so much riding on this game, as well as the pending ends to a bunch of stellar careers, so hopefully, the Irish can keep their hopes alive.

For the Irish, they have to be riding high after their victory on Wednesday night, especially when you consider how clutch the likes of Paul Atkinson Jr., Dane Goodwin, and Blake Wesley were down the stretch. They have played with a never-say-die attitude all season long, and after missing the tournament the last five years, Mike Brey and his squad will be ready for this big moment.

When all is said and done, I believe the Irish are here for a reason, and they will prove to be the better team on Friday.
