The Notre Dame football team kicked off spring practices on Thursday, and here, we look at some exciting storylines to keep an eye on.

The time has come for the Notre Dame football team to kick off spring practices, which they did on St. Patrick’s Day. For the 2022 Notre Dame football team, this is an exciting time, as they are fresh off another strong campaign last season, and have a new head coach in place in Marcus Freeman.

The Irish also saw some key players forgo the 2022 NFL Draft and head back to school, bolstering the roster on both sides of the ball. As the spring kicks off, there are more than a few storylines, and we get into some of them here.

Injuries lead to some opportunities

While most of the Irish will be participating in spring practice, there are some big names out, which will lead to some players getting a chance to shine. Big-time contributors like Avery Davis, Isaiah Foskey, and Jarrett Patterson are expected to miss some, or all of spring, so that means opportunities for players to charge up the depth chart.

Nobody is going to supplant these guys in terms of their starting jobs, but it will be good to see some players step up and prove they can help this team in 2022. We saw so many big-time players miss time due to injuries last season, so this is a storyline that could go from a negative to a positive over time.
