Notre Dame football: Exciting storylines during 2022 Spring Practice

The quarterbacks

The biggest storyline for any team no matter the level of football is, what is going on at the quarterback position? For the Notre Dame football team, they will be inserting a different starting quarterback under center for the third straight season, as Jack Coan replaced Ian Book last season as a graduate transfer.

With Coan only spending one season in South Bend due to eligibility, it is time for the Irish to turn to a new signal-caller, and there are some talented players on campus. Tyler Buchner is the likely starter going into the spring, but Drew Pyne is a talented quarterback as well, with Steve Angeli arriving as a true freshman to push them both.

All told, they have a very strong quarterback room, and both Buchner and Pyne showed last season that they can lead this program when given the chance. Angeli likely will not figure into any playing time as a true freshman, but he is going to learn a lot from Buchner and Pyne as the two battle it out for the starting job.
