Notre Dame football: Exciting storylines during 2022 Spring Practice

Who emerges as RB1?

Staying on the offensive side of the ball, the Irish have another big decision to make this spring and summer, as they have to replace Kyren Williams as the team’s RB1. Williams rushed for 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons, becoming the fifth Notre Dame running back to do so, and now they have to figure out who takes the lead in 2022.

Last season, we saw the emergence of Logan Diggs, who displayed his ability to not only make plays happen on the ground, but also through the air. He also showed incredible athleticism, leaping a Virginia Tech defender in primetime, putting a stamp on a very productive true freshman season.

However, Diggs is not the only option this spring, as fellow true sophomore Audric Estime has the size and speed to be a legitimate threat at the collegiate level. Chris Tyree returns for Year 3 in South Bend, and true freshman Jadarian Price has a tremendous skill set as well, so all eyes will be on the running back group from now until September.
