Notre Dame football Pro Day: 3 Noteworthy Performances
Kevin Austin Jr.
One player who has had a complicated career at Notre Dame football is Kevin Austin Jr. Through various circumstances, 2021 became the first season when Kevin Austin Jr. was consistently on the field and making plays. He showed that he’s more than capable of doing that too.
The goal of this draft process, for Austin Jr, has been about doing well in interviews and continuing to show off his athletic upside and potential for the next level.
Austin Jr. was happy with a lot of his numbers from the NFL Combine, so he stuck with them at the Notre Dame Pro Day. That includes an 11’0″ broad jump, best among all Notre Dame players at the Pro Day and combine. His 39″ vertical jump was, once again, the best among all Notre Dame players in the NFL Draft process.
His 40-yard dash was a 4.43-second run. Again, this made him the fastest among Notre Dame’s draft prospects. He’s an insane athlete, who tested better than Kyle Hamilton, who is expected to go in the top five.
At the Pro Day, it was important for Kevin Austin Jr. to show off his route running ability. If he could run good, tight, and effective routes while being in sync with Jack Coan, then it would go a long way to showing his chances for converting that athleticism into success at the next level.
Austin Jr. did a great job showing his strong relationship and timing with quarterback Jack Coan. In his performance, he looked big, fast, and strong. Out there performing was an NFL wide receiver who has the potential to be a steal in the 2022 NFL Draft. This Pro Day was an opportunity for him to make a name for himself to NFL teams.
Afterward, Austin Jr. deferred praise to Jack Coan, saying, “Jack threw amazing today. Everything was on the money.” Hardworking and humble, no one on Notre Dame did more for themselves in the NFL Draft than Kevin Austin Jr. at the Irish’s 2022 Pro Day.
