The Notre Dame football team has done a nice job of recruiting under Marcus Freeman, but have they actually improved?

Recruiting is one of those hot topics that seem to dominate the college football landscape, and Notre Dame football is no different. In particular, during the offseason, it gets people excited because there, frankly, isn’t much else to talk about.

Notre Dame never has bad recruiting classes, at least not in the grand scheme of things. A bad class for Notre Dame tends to be somewhere between 15-20 in the recruiting rankings. That’s largely because Notre Dame tends to recruit itself. Brian Kelly didn’t have to do anything special to produce those classes.

Now, with Marcus Freeman as head coach, there has been a promise of improved recruiting. After all, along with his excellent ability to scheme on the defensive side of the ball, the energy that he brings to recruiting was what landed him the defensive coordinator role in the first place.

As the head coach, recruiting will be incredibly important too.
