Notre Dame football: Irish have eyes on historic 2023 recruiting class

Who has committed so far?

Our Dan Morrison recently went into how much better recruiting has been under Freeman, and the results have been instant. It is a more direct and aggressive form of recruiting, and now that Freeman has the assets needed, he can go out and really put the effort in to land elite targets.

So far in 2023, he has gotten commitments from some of the best players in the country, leading to him having the No. 1 class of 2023 in the early going. Keon Keeley is the top player to commit to the Irish so far, possessing a five-star rating, and being a menacing presence as an edge rusher standing at 6-foot-5.

In fact, he leads a long list of elite defensive prospects for this class, a class that includes standout talent on all three levels of the defense. The linebacker group stands out, as Drayk Bowen and Preston Zinter are both four-star talents, while Peyton Bowen and Brenan Vernon have five-star potential as well.

All told, they are bringing in a top-10 player at their respective position groups at linebacker, defensive tackle, safety, and edge.
