Notre Dame football: 3 potential 2023 NFL Draft first-round picks

No. 1: Michael Mayer

The first member of the Notre Dame football team that should come off the board in the 2023 NFL Draft is Michael Mayer, the best tight end in the country. Every season we are seeing more and more that the top tight end available is going early, even in the top-10, and that should be the case for Mayer next April.

This is a kid who fits the mold at the NFL level, and based on his size, speed, and catching abilities, he has the potential to be a top-5 pick. He is also a solid blocker, outstanding teammate, and leader, tangibles that are going to make him even more desirable once the vetting process starts with NFL teams.

Notre Dame football is going to run around Mayer this season, especially with depth issues at the wide receiver position. Mayer is only going to improve his draft stock this upcoming season, as he potentially becomes the best tight end to ever put on a Notre Dame football uniform.
