Notre Dame football: 3 reasons Tyler Buchner could dominate in 2022

Buchner is a dual-threat

During the 2021 college football season, we got an early look at just what could be with Tyler Buchner under center full-time. Playing in reserve for Jack Coan, Buchner was used mostly for his legs this past season, rushing for over 300 yards in limited playing time.

However, that is not to say that Buchner cannot throw the ball, and in fact, he is a very accurate passer. We will see the Irish focus more on him throwing this spring and summer, and we will get a great look at how well he is developing in that respect when the Blue-Gold Game takes place later this month.

For any elite quarterback at the college level, having some kind of mobility is crucial, and Buchner has that and then some. If he can throw the ball as well as he showed himself to be able to read a defense when running it as a true freshman, the Irish could see a player that can beat a team at any time in so many ways.
